the love of birdsong

dusk arising

When a bird sings to you...
you hear a thing of beauty

When your lover loves you...
you know a thing of beauty

Love and lovers may go awry...
leaving hearts and minds to flounder.

But when a bird again sings to you...
listen ye not for bum notes.

Ye have done a fine write dusk. Aww, some people are horrid. They say 'If birdsong wakes me up one more morning, I'll shoot those pesky birds!' Well, they don't say 'pesky' but you get the gist.

I was not expecting that at all, I dunno what I was expecting

not sure I was expecting anything in particular

But bum notes made me smile bigger than a lot of other things might have done...

Tis good to wake up with a smile on ya face.. thanks DA.... N

        my pleasure my friend....

      • Fay Slimm.

Proud that my yesterday effort inspired this outburst of well-written lines D.A. - lovers indeed can end their song of beauty but a song-bird never forgets.

Reflecting upon how loves gone wrong can 'taint' some and picking up the jist of your write, I thought a comparison of a loves approach and birdsong were apt. So many are afraid to dip that toe in deep and appear to be watching out for 'bum notes'. Or as Joni Mitchell asked "Why do you dream flat tyres".

Love the write and that last line is to break wind for.

Was especially written so that us old farts could attune.

Thanks for sharing DA ! Before the time of H. Sapiens ~ Before a Human note was sung or Man or Woman crafted a Musical Instrument ~ the Birds Sang ! And before that the Wind sang in the Trees and the waves sang as they crashed & splashed on the shore.
All Human Music is derived from the *Sounds of Nature* ! Today we drown out Natures Harmony & Melody and delude ourselves that we invented Music and that before Mozart there was just discord & cachophony ! What fools we are !
If only we would take time to stroll in the Woods (without our headphones) and just listen ! We would then realise ~ MUSICWISE ~ WE are really only mimicing ~ Natures Notes after Her ~ AMEN !

Harmony & Melody ~ to You & Yours

Totally agree but don't forget that rock n roll was supposed to be the sound of the city. But in the 90's i began to hear of music types such as 'industrial' and 'grunge' which, though i have no idea what defines them, must relate to the noises/music of the modern world to younger ears.
And so life goes on eh?

Thanks DA but in essence ~ thats MUSAK & not MUSIC !
Too ofen CACHOPHONY and not HARMONY !!

                Yours B & A πŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ’™

Thank you badday, I though of you and how you would relate this. Better days will come and i hope that for you, one day, the bird of love sings a tune of lasting beauty.

Even songbirds get flatulence you know. Thanks for reading me and glad you enjoyed it.

Was really all about love using the metaphor of birdsong. Those damaged for love should not look for bum notes next time lovebird sings to them.....

                        Thank you Christina8

Those birds soings are all part of Nature's Symphony where there are never any bum notes.

Like jazz there is never a wrong note, as it is the note you felt you needed to play at that time.

I think it was Thelonius Monk who said his best notes were bum notes or mistakes because in covering them he was forced to explore avenues he would have never pursued had he not made the mistake.... as a novice being brave enough to ad-lib solos within a group i know just what he meant and accepting that bum notes are out there for all of us to drop, it is encouraging for those daring to venture into ad-libs..... we should tolerate others bum notes too as they hone their skills and be entertained by their attempts to self rescue.

The poem was really about love using the metaphor of birdsong. So many look for negatives when love comes singing to our hearts again because of the hurt they carry.
