there

dusk arising

       there
            i found a place
            where the dunes
            fall to the beach
            and watched
            afternoon turn
            as families strayed homeward

       there.
            to think
            and feel

                  reflect
                  and cry.

            to finally
            accept.

                   there is
                   no why.

  • Fay Slimm.

The gentle pathos in this read brought me near tears D.A. - you are a master at slow reach into readers' minds with short-line appeal. Liked the sad feel of the lonely finalƩ.

    • dusk arising

Though it pleases me to know these words can be so heartfelt, i am sorry to have brought you any distress. Far from anything masterful really, i am a student stumbling here and there as i try to communicate across the void which divides minds.

As always, reading your response to my stuff is a pleasure.

I aint gonna argue with Fay and whilst I hardly ever read the words of my reviewing predecessors, today was an exception .... I seriously hope these words, this lament gets the recognition they truly deserve.......... Neville

      • dusk arising

Wise man not to argue with Fay for i fear her responses would find us both restrained in tightly bound poetic knots.
Deserving of response from my poetic friends and such on MPS is all i ask Neville - not that i consider my works worthy of any further accolade.
Positive responses give me the confidence and strength to broach other subjects which may not be so easily written nor consumed.

        • Neville

Yes indeed.. well the bit about Fay's poetic capabilities is anyway.... I am inclined to think you tend to be far too modest sir.. Many of your posts have impressed and delighted me .....

          I'm quite sure I have been...there.
          It all sounds so familiar.

          • dusk arising

It is a place which would welcome all.

            D.A.,

            Currently, Iā€™m ā€œthereā€ !
            I ā€˜think and feel
            reflect and cryā€™,
            but havenā€™t accepted...yet!

Thank you for sharing your pen!

Being 'there' is a good place to be Laura. It's very demanding of one's self and when you 'walk away' from it i hope you feel all the richer for the time you spent 'there'. Frequent re-visits are rewarding even if only to remind you of the ground you have covered.

Thank you for sharing this with me.

So simply written with such effectiveness - a gem of a write.

Thank you ME. I think these drugs I'm on are writing for me.

                • Suresh

(why?), lacking the reason, the journey is too arduous,
                  Your poetic words, deeply touch

I'm pleased you felt this piece. Thank you for your kindness.

                  • PoeticBiscuit

Perhaps you could show me where this place is? I could use a bit of reflection myself. I always enjoy your work Dusk, keep on taking me on these wonderful journeys

                    • dusk arising

You're too kind Mr Biscuit. The place is anyplace where the powerful world of nature is present, for me thats usually the coast or the high hills or mountains. These places humble me. I am but a speck of humanity amongst the 'all' that surrounds me. In such a place, with such a humbling presence, reflection seems second nature.

Why - the most unanswered question of them all. Wonderful emotive write d a.

                      • dusk arising

Thanks as always for your positive support Goldfinch.
