Tonight the floor and walls tremble
with the magnificent audacity
of natures night time symphony-
the thunderous roar of lightning
And the rain comes to wash
away our sin and replenish
our already heaving rivers and lakes
It sounds daunting, yet it calms
The lights flicker on and off
reminding us of our need for electricity
yet it would be worth a night
of flashlights and candles,
if this storm brought us back
to being more human, less digitalized
then I welcome each lightning strike
in this harmonized night time symphony

- Comment from author about the poem: Without TV, smartphones, computers and other devices, what would we do? For goodness sake I think we should all have good conversation and play cards or board games, go for a bike ride or other outdoor activities.

What a different society we are compared to 50/60 years ago when TVs etc were rare.
Wonderful electric storms bring home to you your own humanity, frailty and insignificance.
Would be nice to see us all being more 'human' with old fashioned values of family. Maybe more of our young would find purpose and value in family life.
Great thought provoking writing.
Thank you so much, dusk, for the wonderful reply! I'm glad you liked it and yes, it would be nice if we could all be more 'human'....I see young couples in cafes just staring at their phones....sad! Anyway, we can all strive to do better. Thanks again!!
A fine write Christina. Oh we see it about once a twice a year on average in the UK, I should think!
Thanks Steve for the nice reply!
There's nowt like a good thunderstorm to clear the air and help us to consider how awesome our world truly is.... I also agree that the world would probably be more social without pesky mobile phones and the like... bring back the age of steam, I say....... Neville
LOL, Now lets not do anything too drastic, but more human interaction would be great! Yes, the thunderstorm last night was truly beautiful......thanks for your wonderful comment....Christina
you always make it a pleasure ....... N
Just lately my wife and I have only been switching the TV on for the news - we spend our evenings reading and talking - fine write Christina.
That is so nice! And thanks for the compliment!--Christina
Wonderful write Christina. Natures symphony is so wonderful and nature is so powerful that it can fulfil our lives in many ways.

The world has changed so much from when I was a child and I’m not even that old. I remember when streets were full of life from the children and you would play board games at sleepovers rather than sit silently on the phone texting away. We have lost touch with nature and are losing touch with ourselves. Wonderful write Christina
Thank you so much PB! And I agree....phones have become so "smart"..that everyone uses them as computers. I agree wholeheartedly with what you have said. Thanks for your compliment also! Christina
