Simple Symbols

orchidee

Tune: Corpus Christi

('Jesus, in thy dear Sacrament')

*******

This we do in remembrance

And here your presence sense

You bid us partake of bread and wine

Symbols of life divine

Your gifts of grace you with us share

No riches can compare

These e'er be enough, for us suffice

For our sins paid is [the] price

Help us Lord keep in mind and heart

That we not drift apart

From Communion, but while we

Can, may take of it free

Fro this shall feed our spirit, soul

Bring healing, make us whole

For we feast on you, the living bread

Saviour, risen from the dead

And too drink of your blood outpoured

You who, our King and Lord

Did such Sacrament institute

In you [is] our ground, our root

These are 'spiritual' words that Jesu spoke. They are not literal, as if implying cannibalism. I continually emphasise that they are symbols or emblems.

Those symbols are very true to you Orchi, may your belief be forever with you.

The word reminds me of salt and pepper, but ya can't play a salt cellar!

The word reminds me of salt and pepper, but ya can't play a salt cellar! How's the iambic pentameters going? What are they, when they are at home?

I hope Miss Berles knows about those extra syllables.

Ooh yes she does. One of her brothers, Sim Berles, said it was OK too.
