Michael Edwards

Forgive me one and all

for this is not really a poem

but rather a thank you

for all your kind wishes

for my surgery last week:

total knee replacement.

Well I’m now back at home

and to my surprise

I get around the house

and up and down stairs

without the crutches

and little pain

but how I hate

the orthopaedic stockings

I have to wear.

I’m doing the exercises

and that is when

the pain does kick

but I can live with that

and I am determined

and soon I’ll be

back to normal

and waiting for:

Yup!!

the other bloody knee to be done.

Glad all went well Michael and that you are back hop, skipping and jumping all over the place.

I had to wear orthopaedic stockings when I had a varicose vein sorted - great aren't they!!

    • Michael Edwards

I hate them more than the pain of surgery itself.

Good to hear Michael, maybe when the other one is sorted too we can all have a knees up.... Neville

Welcome back hop-along-Edwards and thank you for this wonderful record of your recovery. I wish I were in the queue behind you for the same op.
I have to wear bespoke elasticated lower leg stockings.... mine went missing in hospital last week..... OK so I may not launder them as often as i might but i didn't expect them to run away when i took them off.

          • Michael Edwards

I was lucky - From Doctors referral to op was only 9 weeks. and that was on the NHS with the op being done in a private hospital.
I did see a pair of elasticated lower leg stockings walking along the canal near here - they weren't yours were they?.
