Tune: Louvan
('Lord of all being, throned afar')
Hosea 11 v.8-12
********
How shall I give you up, Ephraim?
And Israel, that be your name
How shall I make you as a town
Where my fire and brimstone fell down?
My heart within me it is turned
E'en those against those towns* it burned
My repentings, my sympathy
Is kindled, moved towards you, see
I will not disperse my anger
It I will not on you confer
I will show you love, for I be
The Lord God for eternity
I the Holy One among you
Though you did not follow me true
My people shall return and walk
In ways of the LORD, of Him talk
Yet He shall roar as a lion
Still His abode is Mount Zion
They shall fear, tremble asa bird
At the sound of the LORD's voice heard
The LORD will place them in houses
Thought Ephraim they did not Him bless
They lied and deceived, but Judah
Faithful to God their hearts did stir
