To Church.

Goldfinch60

My faith has died,

My faith in the Christian way

Has died.

So why, you ask,

Do I still go to Church?

I go there to sing in the choir.

I go there to talk with friends.

I go there as I get free parking

In the centre of my town.

There's a spark, or more, still there I believe. I might throw the whole thing in, if I felt I lost my faith - 'Go away church; go away church people; I want nothing more to do with you'.

    • Goldfinch60

You may well say that but the friends I have from Church are important to me and as friends they can understand my feelings (some even agree with me).

I understand Gold. I was thinking in a sense of some who may not want any links to Church or Christianity at all, as in 'Go away, all of you'.

The thought to think in silence alone to gather around you the beliefs in which you trust and honour. Either way, you look at it you still succeed in the writings you proceed with.

Thank you Kevin for your kind words.

Aha! The same principles that keep me shopping at tescos.

(Yes i often sing out a prayer in the checkout queue)

          • Goldfinch60

I did that once - that is why I am no longer allowed in Tescos.

We go to Church (B in UK) & (A in NZ) for the above reasons but mainly to be filled with Gods HOLY SPIRIT ~ AMEN. Joyce & You & Your Family are in our Prayers 24/7 Amen !

Meeting with friends is always important and remains so with my friends at church.

Your faith may have died in this poem. But to sing in the choir and to talk with friends... Brings such a sense of community and belonging, which I think find their rooting in Christian faith...

Free parking helps too! Great read as always.

Thank you Clara, my faith in the christian way has failed but I still believe in God as I know My Spirit is always there for me. Sining on the Choir is important to me ( I am in three choirs).
