For The Sake of Poetry
For the sake of poetry
She said I could take her anywhere
except for in the garden or on the stairs
It seemed that both were sacred
To the memory of some previous lover or another
However that’s as far as sacred went
and therefore
I could have had her in the tartan mini
The one with the red and black squares
The one she wore out on girly night
That went with her cropped dark hair
On reflection I now wish I had been as free then
As she was in the spring of……
