IN SUMMER - MY MAMMA (ENGLISH) TOOK ME ALL ROUND ANDALUCIA
SEVILLA - CORDOBA - GRANADA & MALAGA - TO MEET THEM - AMEN !
EVERY SUMMER WE WENT TO ANDALUCIA
A Casas de Famillia Extenda !
The Children played SIN ZAPATOS (barefoot)
So I hid my black Patent Leather SHOES !
In LONDON we always danced - in the Nursery
In bare-feet ~ and I loved to run round the .......
Garden with the DOGS in bare-feet - so it
Just took a DAY to aclimatise FEET !
BAREFOOT - through the dry red powdery soil
BAREFOOT - through stream - smooth pebbles
BAREFOOT - through stubble - that is WORST
BAREFOOT - through sand & sea - the BEST !
In SPAIN many Children went *BAREFOOT* In the
Twentieth Century - BAREFOOT IN ANDALUCIA - I
Felt much more *Una Nina d*Espania*
Than in LONDON - In Patent Leather Shoes !

My MAMMA first took Me to Andalucia in 1991 when I was THREE
to meet MY Grandparents in Sevillia - and other members of My
Spanish Family. My MAMMA spoke fluent Spanish - so Year by
Year my vocabulary increased ! Mis ABUELOS (My Grandparents)
were keen that I should learn Flamenco Dancing and bought me
my first Flamenco Dress & Castanets when I was SIX ! I visited
Andalucia each year with MAMMA & My Siblings until I was 15
(2003). BRIAN & I have visited several times and We will go to
Sevillia for our Honeymoon next year ! BRIAN is fluent in Spanish
and has a very good knowledge of Spanish Culture also History &
Geography. He also plays Classical & Flamenco Guitar ! My FAMILY
tell me *BRIAN es muy Guapo - y es muy Espanolo como Tu !*
BRIAN is very Macho and as true a Child of Spain as you are !
Brian studied Spanish & Spanish Culture & Classical Guitar long
before I met Him ! This has made Him very very acceptable to
My PAPA and all my Spanish Family - Thank GOD - AMEN !

ANGELA HERE - Buenos Dias Tio Steve ! Pleased you enjoyed my Presentation ! Because my PAPA is a UK Representative for RIOJA WINE I was born (and have always lived) in England. However my PAPA was keen that MAMMA shoul take Me & my Siblings to Andalucia every Summer so we could imbibe the Spanish Language and Culture - which we have ! My PAPA was very keen that I should marry a Spaniard and I didi have some liaisons ! However when He met Brian he could not believe how *Spanish* he was and gave his blessing for our betrothal ! Brian also liked & understood the *Vintages* of RIOJA WINE !

Memories of barefoot days came back to me, it's been a long long time since then - unless there's a carpet beneath my feet.

Gracias CHRISTINA - always a pleasure to get such a loving reply from you ! There is so so much Love in our Family like your own Family with *J* and your lovely Children ! Thats the sort of Family we want ....... after Easter ! I get mega LOVE from MAMMA & PAPA and also from my Bro & Sis. The important thing is they all love Brian almost as much as I do ! My MAMMA made sacrifices and it cost my PAPA a lot of Money for us all to go to Andalucia every Summer ! However it was all worth while because we all understand our Spanish Heritage - Language & Culture - Amen !

Thanks UNCLE ANDY - Yes in retrospect it was Idyllic. My MAMMA worked in the OFFICE for PAPA so her Spanish was good and things in Our London Home were all labelled in Spanish so we could read & pronounce Castillian Spanish ! Going to ANDALUCIA each Summer was magic ! Different Climate ~ Food ~ Architecture ~ Family ~ Ambience ! I aways felt strange when I came back to the UK and started to speak Spanish to my English Friends and I dressed Spanish. In the Private School I attended from the Age of Ten we did Latin & French & Spanish. We had a Spanish Spanish Teacher and a Spanish Assistant from Mexico ! I got a GRADE A in Spnish GCSE when I was 12 and an A-level @ 14 ! My dad was very Proud and bought me a new Bike on both occassions ! So all those Summer trips to Andlucia paid off and my Spanish is marginally better than Brians - but dont tell HIM ! He has never beaten me @ Spanish SCRABBLE ! Pleased you enjoyed the Presentation !

Thnaks UNCLE MIKE - Most of my *POETRY* is from my experience and my Heart. Beacause of His Job as a Wine Importer my PAPA had to live in or near London so I have never lived for more than SIX weeks in Spain. Had I wanted to Study Spanish or Music @ University PAPA offered to pay for me to study in Madrid or Sevilla. However when I decided @ 17 that i wanted to study PHYSIOTHERAPY (I didnt want ro be a Medical Doctor) PAPA appreciiated that It would be much more sensible to stucy in LONDON and to learn all the Medical terms in English. I guess I could practice Physio in Spain (The Anatomy & Physiology of Humans is the same everywhere !) This obvious factor has eabled me to practice successfully for more than a Year in NZ on Kiwis (I could never get them to FLY) and Moaris ! And also to Train Five Maori Girls in Practical *hands on* Physio. I guess I could do the same in Sapin & South America including Brazil as my Portugeuse is more than adequate ! See my response to Uncle ANDY there is mention of BICYCLES !

En Lenngua ~ en Vista y en Vestidos y Ballero Flamenco ! I am looking forward to our DOS SEMANAS (Two weeks) HONEYMOON in Andalucia next Easter and visiting all MY Spanish Relations ~ AMEN. I think your PAPA was very wise to ensure all His Ninos were tutored in Spanish Language & Culture despite having to Live in London. I read what you wrote to Uncle Andy about SCRABBLE ~ CHEEKY ! You didnt tell him that despite you having a Public School Education ~ I beat You @ English Scrabble 9 times out of 10 ! You only win occasionally because you know so many medical terms ! HOLA MIO OSO GRANDE ! GRACIAS por tu comentario en la mia Poema de *Viajes con MAMMA en el invierno en Andalucia.* Sometimes I wish we had met earlier when I was 16 and you were 21 ! You always say how lovely I look - even @ 14 - in the Videos Mamma took for Papa when we were in Andalucia in My BIKINI @ Malaga ! In retrospect and considring the Agony & Ecstasy of LOVE - I think we met in the Right Place at the Right Time when I was 28 and you were 33 ! Young enough to fall in Love and Old enough to know HOW ! Ive been playing lots of SCRABBLE in NZ and I have learned lots of New Words so you has better be prepared ! My ENGLISH watch tells me its half-past midnight in Essex so I hope your in bed ! Its 11:30 am Wednesday here and my Clinic finished @ 11am (NZ time) so I am just having a Coffee and catching up on MPS - some nice comments on this Poem !
