PEGGITY PEG
The chicken is clucking
she’s mislaid her egg
the chicken is clucking
peggity peg.
Sleep in the fireplace
sleep like a log
sleep in the fireplace
peggity pog.
Lie in the meadow
pat on the head
lie in the meadow
peggity ped.

Wonderful abstract! But you got me with the word 'peggity'. Have no clue what that means.
As in many nursery rhymes it has no meaning - just a nonesense chorus line - thanks Fred.
Good fun write Peggity - oops Michael.
lol 😊
Oh lol, good write Michael. Is there a Peggy Berles?!
There's a Peb Berles - you'll find him on the beach.
Ha ha 'pat' on the head in the meadow. I can almost hear that unfortunate cracking noise as one accidentally steps on a 'matured' pat in the meadow and accompanying aroma.
Cheers dusk - never lie in a meadow - you never know what misfortune may descend.
Liked because it made me feel about seven or eight years old again... maybe....... A great picture to accompany these words too.....
My family think I still act like a child - either that or they call me eccentric.
GOOD MORNING MICHAEL - ANGELA here (11pm Friday) ! Love the Painting which I have copied and pinned on my Wall for the MAORIS to enjoy ! It clearly shows the PARAQUITO dancers from PERU ! Their pantaloons are Feathers (shades of Muave & Blue) and you will notice the Lead Dancer (always Purple Pants) is wearing the traditional Three Toed Shoes ! Traditionally their Head Masques resemble Animals & Birds & Insects. You have shown a BEAR (OSO) a CONDOR (CONDOR) & a BEATLE (RINGOSTARO !) - Excellent !
Compared to Espanoles Guapos - all Englishmen are at least 10% loco. Brian has a fund of Silly Rhymes he recites in Public @ the Hop of a Drat ! No Caballero would ever make fun of himself in Public. Now I see why PAPA wanted Me to marry a Spaniard but its already three years TOO LATE. Love the POEM the very word PEGGITY had me giggling even before I said it (Isnt She in David Copperfield - along with Uriah Heap ! Dickens loved Quirky Names) I think I am morphing from a Solemn Senorita into an Essex Girl ~ AMEN !
Blessings to You & Yours
Love ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
So pleased you love the painting - hope the Maoris also enjoy it.Yes Clara Peggotty was Davids nurse I believe (almost the same spelling) and I too love the names Dickens used. On this theme I also like inventing names by swapping letters around in vaious phrases/idioms. For example The Shoulder Of Mutton (a common pub name) becomes The Moulder Of Shutton (a vey grand title).
