Graveyard of Dreams

FredPeyer

Somewhere deep inside us resides our graveyard of dreams

Of abandoned hope, crushed expectations and other themes

Stillness reigns, as in a bottomless void, but naught is dead

Deep in sleep, biding their time, just waiting to be led

Back into consciousness, back into the light

To be released from this everlasting night

To once again fill our heart and mind

Let us see even though we had been blind

Show us there can be another way

A beautiful life full of joy and play

It is so simple, since all we have to do

Is truly look inside and start anew

Wonderful poem. Really hopeful and comforting actually, despite the title. All is not lost. Thank you for sharing.

      Thank you Clara,
Over a lifetime so many dreams and aspirations are put aside. But they never die. Hopefully one day.....

Totally agree Fred. Never stop dreaming. Every day is a new beginning. A beautiful beginning. Let’s look at life with the eyes of a child that got an unexpected gift. Love your poem. Thank you 🙏🏻

Thank you for your comment! No matter how old, there is still much to do, much to learn.

Tell me about. I have a fire burning inside my heart and need to remind me everyday to calm down and just enjoy life as it is. Just smell the flowers. No need to plant a new garden.

Those last two lines say it all, joy is within us, show it to all.
