Enlarge my loving heart

Spirit, who all does search

Knows all, needs no research

So this heart here, me empower

To serve you every hour

 

Things of world, earthly life

help me tend without strife

To put you first, then all shall be

Worked out satisfiedly

 

If 'neath some load of sin

Forgive, cleanse me within

Or oppressed with doubt, worry, fear

Set me free, here appear

 

Thus salt and light for you

Sharing with others too

Gospel, the good news, salvation

Avails to every one

 

In Christ's image I grow

And others too may know

Him as their Saviour, lord, and king

And to Him worship bring

 

Where earth-bound, soul, arise

Ever on to the prize

Christ formed in you, hope of glory

On through eternity

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.8.6. metre. The first verse of this came to me as a prayer. We had sung the original hymn in church, and I felt to set this poem to the same tune.
