Sun And Shield

orchidee

Tune: Rivaulx

('Father of heaven, whose love profound')

Psalm 84 v. 9 - 12 parts

**********

Behold, O God our shield, look on

The face of your anointed Son

He be Christ Jesus, He the One

Bringing to all folk salvation

The LORD God is a sun and shield

Come to Him, your heart, mind, life yield

For He will give grace and glory

And the Light of life to you be

No good thing here will He withhold

From those that trust Him in His fold

Who live righteously, Him obey

Blessed they who trust in Him alway

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. metre. I don't always use 'alway' (last line). It's poetic, but some are fussy, and insist on 'always'. A publisher was fussy about it, so I didn't bother with them. Doh! 'Always' don't rhyme here! Spellchecker don't like it either.

    Hello Orchidee,

A great write. You know I was reading Psalm 84 yesterday. It is a powerful Psalm.

God is our sun and shield. He is good all the time.

    Keep writing FineB

Is that the same shield you used in 1066 to keep the rain off. Nice one O.

Yes lol. Thanks M. I 'alway' am glad of your comments - note the poetic word there.
