Sunday Reverence

dusk arising

October drab and sunday morning
brightened by Mr & Mrs middle class
parking their nicely clean company cars
outside their carefully chosen church
you know the one,
"it's the one that suits our standards
we only wish they could improve the parking"

Thanks Laura. Just an observational ditty which came to mind as i noticed how certain churches benefit from posh cars parked blocking the pavements and causing traffic bottlenecks when other churches appear to be largely ignored. Such a shame christianity doesn't have the aura of a classless society unlike a certain 'son' preached.

Will that be Mr and Mrs Joe Bloggs?!

      • dusk arising

Probably that traffic warden who is over sensitive about arrows down Hastings Way.

Hadn't u noticed how some posh churches get the posh car parking problem whereas other churches get.... well they get ignored if they're not posh enough don't they..... gotta be some exceptions surely?

      • Michael Edwards

We have a 12th century church in the village. I can't say those who attend are 'posh' but they are very possesive - there's only a few and woe betide if you open the gate and sit in one of their enclosed pews.

Now that i would just love to watch and hear.

        • ANGELA & BRIAN

BRIAN HERE (FROM NZ 11am MONDAY !) We did have a Problem especially on a Tuesay for MUMS & TOTS (best attended Service of the week over 100 !) Only Parking for about 20 cars and a busy ROAD. Behind the Church was a Tennis Court ( belonging to a Neighbour) overgrown & never used ! We made an offer (£35k) which was accepted built a Car Park for 50 more cars (£65k) We raised the £100k (we dont have to Pay our Leadership Team) and our Parking Problem has been solved. Our membership has increased (to 100+) because we have good parking ! People used to walk to Church 100 years ago so many older Churches were built without Car Parks and still dont have them ! Posh people have to be reminded that "God does not look on the outer trappings but on the HEART ~ AMEN

          Blessings to YOU & YOURS
          Yours B & A 💙🧡💙🧡💙

What a well heeled congregation of christians you must belong to.

            Great words d a.

Back in my teens I used to go to a church and very soon realised that many of the people went there so they could be 'seen to be going to church' nothing to do with belief.

            • dusk arising

              Yep, foolishly fooling who?

              Hi Dusk Arising

A good write and very interesting.

Sunday reverence must be deep and meaningful and not just skin deep.

              Keep writing FineB

Why only sunday? One surely should have a 24/7 faith.

Everybody is for sale, even the messenger......

                • dusk arising

Not this messenger. I'm already sold on 'oneness'..... invitation to try it for yourself.... unless you've been bought by threats of a man made invention called satan, the one in the man made book.

                  • Suresh

                    I meant the biblical messenger

                    • Suresh

And their cronies looting the populous without shame

                      • dusk arising

                        Misunderstood you didnt i LOL.
