Tune: St Hugh
('Lord, teach us how to pray aright')
Luke 2 v.29-32
*********
Nunc Dimittis, Lord, Now dismiss
Your servant, for 'tis bliss
I Simeon, Christ-child have seen
Promise fulfilled has been
Promise of Christ, His salvation
Come unto each nation
So now let me your servant leave
Depart, for I believe
Depart in peace, so according
To your word, you did bring
Lord, to the world your salvation
For humankind, each one
You prepared Him before the face
Of all people, by grace
That all may see Him, He a light
Unto the Gentiles sight
And He the glory He sure be
Of your people, they see
Your people Israel they know
Lord you revealed Christ so

Nunc dimittis servum tuum, Domine
Amicum tuum, Alan
Bit of French there for me, Alan? I only know as far as Nunc Dimittis! I won't pretend I can put the whole of the prophecy in Latin. Bonjour to you - is that Latin?! lol.
Thanks for sharing UNCLE STEVE ! Uplifting HYMN and a poetic reminder of a very important incident in the Christmas Story !
LORD now let your Servant depart in PEACE
For my eyes have seen Your Salvation
When we look @ Jesus do we see an Itinerant
Rabbi or the Saviour of the whole Human Race ?
Blessings to You & Your Christmas Canine

Thanks B&A.
What are the odds: ββTis bliss, this Simeon, now dismissed, having seen the Christ child, spent these, his remaining years, writing religious poetry? A form of prayer too! Thanks for the inspiration O.
Thanks Gary. Well, it seems he was about to depart' this earthly life. But who knows? Maybe he did stay and write poems! Ain't no bliss, if I was to sing them to him though. He wouldn't be able to bear it! lol.
Good one Orchi.
