Trying to put a meal on the table
In less than thirty minutes
My back hurts
The right eye twitches
Sign of a headache coming on
Just another day in the life
Of a seventy-one year old
Acting like he was sixty
Or maybe fifty
Who cares what I act like
As long as supper is
Ready on time
While peeling the carrots
I remember the woman
Somewhere in her thirties
Beautiful, sexy, with
Hair I could weep in
Images of a romp
Dance through the brain
That’s all it is
A brain dance
Lollipops for seniors
My back hurts
Gotta get supper ready

A fine write Fred.
Thank you orchi! It's amazing how the body ages and the mind stays young.
Ah indeed - the mind is willing but the flesh is weak. I'm doing the cooking here since my wife broke her shoulder - I've become her temporary carer which is restricting my creative side but it's no more than she would do for me bless her.
Thanks Michael,
the flesh is not week, it is absent! I am proud of you that you took over for your injured wife. That is exactly what a good husband is for. I have been cooking for years since my wife spent her days in a baking shop. Couldn't expect her to come home and cook again. Now that she is retired, she is spoiling me again! 🙂
what we having,we never get old in our minds
Thanks wordman,
you are so right. Even though I was making fun of myself in this poem, and even though there definitely is a kernel of truth there, I did exaggerate. What is true though is that in our minds we are never as old as the papers say.
Thanks for sharing FRED ~ very DROLL ! We are only half your age (31 & 36) but we still find meeting deadlines stressful ! We are not married YET (2020) so I have to run my flat alone ~ Angela lives with her Parents whih is less stressful. Because Angela is a PHYSIO and work with Older Patients ~ sometimes Home Visits so she is fully aware of what lies ahead !
Blessings & Peace & Joy
Yours ANGELA & BRIAN

Thanks A & B,
You still have a whole lot of living ahead of you, so don't worry about old age. It is actually A LOT better than I made it sound. Was kind of a parody.
Such is life, dear Sir. FredPeyer. I love your descriptive poem about the supper, and your feelings those you remember from your youth! -- Enjoyed reading your poem...Zuzanna Musial
Thank you Zuzanna,
Glad you like it. I guess there comes a time when all we have are remembrances, but for that we are all still much too young! 🙂
Dear FredPeyer, I am sure we have similar memorable moments in life...Thank you for the warmhearted poetic words...Have a great weekend, and thank you for accepting my friendship request. 🙂
Warmest Regards...........Zuzanna
We obviously think the same Fred, being the same age.
I did my supper last night, as I do every night, I made a lamb curry, it was good.
Bon appetit! I love cooking, as long as I have a glass of red wine while doing it. It helps with the inspiration.
In any cooking never use water where wine will do!
Wow an interestingly written and poem of fixing supper. You wrote it super cool. Rest your back but not your own too long poet. Kudos.
Pls pleez do review /comment my newest poem too.
Thanks zaynab for your kind comment. And yes, will check yours too!
I just realised there's a typo, I meant to say don't rest your pen too long'
well what are we having ,fish, coconut, pineapple,or all of that
Dear Poet, FredPeyer. Life is to be happy even when we getting older. We have one life only. So why care if your number is growing in age, it is important how do you feel in your heart. Yes, heart is always young...Great poem that tells me a lot of deep thoughts from your soul...Love it...Kind greetings, Zuzanna
