Boredom Personified.

Goldfinch60

The hall was booked,

The man was going to speak,

To speak to the assembled throng.

He arrived at the hall

His script ready,

Full of boring words

To tell all.

He looked down from the stage

And saw three people,

And a dog,

In the audience.

He said to the organiser

“Did you tell them,

Tell them I was coming?”

“No, I didn’t,

Word must have got out!”

Nothing worse sometimes, if you're part of a 'captive audience' - difficult to get out without embarrassment. And if boring, speeches seem to be even longer than they really are, and never-ending. Was Fido there - the dog?!

    • Goldfinch60

I have been to meetings like this and in one instance walked out. Some people have no idea how to speak to an audience.

I've walked out of buildings with an icy draught - unbearable.

These days when I play, Andy, I look up and the audience is exactly as you describe (without the dog, of course. I'd expect the money to go up if there was a dog present). The doorman doesn't throw people out he throws them in!

Good observation though, thanks for posting.

        Ex animo, Alan

I am sure that people flock to see you Alan, at least once, (maybe not a second time though - eh?)

Many years ago I used to know an elderly ex sailor who was in America once and he and some of his mates were walking down a street and were paid to go to a show to cheer a new singer, I think he may have become quite famous, you may have heard of him somebody called Frank Sinatra.

Ha - - thanks for the first smile of my day dear Andy -- we all need to have courage when talks get to boring and remember for next time...........

          • Goldfinch60

If I made you smile Fay my day has been a good one.

            Hello Goldfinch60,

A good write. You weren't completely alone.

Sometimes life is full of boring moments as well as great highs.

            The topsy turvy of life.

            Keep writing FineB

            • Goldfinch60

So true FineB but I haven't got time in my life now for boredom to set in.

              Andy

THANKS UNCLE ANDY ~ Very droll but it happens ! There are two sides to Public Speaking 1. A good Story 2. A good Presentation. If you get both it is indeed a BLESSING. However NATURE is a IMP ! Tha MAN with the GOOD STORY has POOR PRESENTATION & vice-versa !

              Thanks for sharing
