Don’t you hate it
when someone says
they “might actually” be able to go to something with you,
then after you try not to get your hopes up
you confirm if they can go
and they say “I’m just not feeling it”?
At this point why do I even bother?
I give up,
I’m never asking another friend to come to something with me
JUST so they can bail later on.
I’m done
getting my hopes up EVEN when I try not to.
I’m done
looking forward to showing off something from my life
to them,
and sharing in that new experience with them.
I’m just... DONE

Very good writing.
Self reflect and change.
Some people are just not worthy of the prized moments in our lives.
Forget them.
Love your writing, M.E.M., honest and straight forward. But I don't agree on giving up completely. Haven't we been guilty of the same thing once in a while? It is annoying and terribly impolite when somebody cancels with "I don't feel like it" or some phony excuse. Give them the benefit of the doubt, try again, and then if it still does not work, OK, dump em!
Thnaks for sharing MEM ! This is a great Poem in both its STRUCTURE & SUBLECT ~ Im Done ! ~ I like the single lines when your attitude has been soured by discourtesy ! I give up - Im done - Im done - to them - Im just ....... DONE ! In my own personal experience (Im 36) sharing an experience with someone is important ! When you do something on your own (Moovie or Theatre) there is no one to reminisce with. When you do something WITH someone the experience is TEN times better and everytime you meet you can relive it ~ OK ! love it ~ thanks for sharing !
Peace & Joy
