You see them driving down the road,
The old codgers at the wheel.
Leaning over the steering wheel
Wondering where they are going,
Grey hair covering their eyes.
They lead the traffic
Going along the road,
Travelling at a speed
That is slower than all others.
Or they vary their speed,
Up and down it goes
No thought to those behind.
Or maybe they don’t look,
Don’t look in the mirror.
Sometimes these old codgers
Drive so slowly,
Maybe they are looking for him,
The man with the red flag.
Hold on though,
What am I saying?
Many of those old codgers,
Are younger than me!

A fine write Gold. You codging along?!
Always codging along Orchi.
Which is best - to be a codger or a cronie? lol.
Oh yes how I curse them and there are many about.
I have so many gripes my current being those who don't know the rules at roundabouts - especially those still indicating right as they leave and those who don't indicate left when they are alongside the exit which is the one before they ibntend to leave. Lots of grrrrs
We seem to be of like minds. People do not seem to realise that you indicate your INTENTIONS not what you are actually doing.
Then there are the cars that are being issued without indicators any more, BMWs seem to be the main ones!
Excellent write Goldfinch.
I work with a lot of fast streamers and apprentices in my job.
Some of them really are old codgers in spirit!
Keep writing FineB
Thank you FineB, yes there are many younger people who seem to be old codgers.
Sounds like you are seeing red Andy.
Ex animo, Alan
Yes it is called Rioja.

Thank you Angela, yes you do see these people on the road. Even though I am an old codger I am not one of them, I am the one that has just raced passed you.
I too like The Corries and have most of their albums.
