I sit by her hospital bed,
I look at my lover with tears in my eyes.
She does not see me,
Our years looking into each other’s eyes
No long possible.
She lays there, waiting,
I sit there, waiting,
Waiting for that moment,
That moment when she leaves,
Leaves me.
I relive the past,
Our wonderful times,
So many years with our love
Fuelling our beautiful life,
But now it is over.
She lays there, waiting,
I sit there, waiting.
It will come soon
And my lover will be gone,
But I know she will be waiting,
Waiting for me,
As our hearts re-join
And will sail together to infinity,
To infinity and beyond,
Fuelled by our love,
A love so secure
As it was from that moment,
That moment we first met,
First met so many years ago.
She lays there, waiting,
I sit there, waiting.

The sensitivity and atmosphere of a hospital environment add to the poignancy in this. Hope you will find comfort somehow.
I hold to Christ, the Light of the world, expressed in my poems. Human help may come to an end eventually. It may not be enough on its own. Yet better than no comfort at all.
Your 'sparks' (?) of faith won't be snuffed out, for either of you. 🙂
Thank you Orchi.
This is so sad my friend. Revealing of how this beautiful life, this beautiful world can seem to turn on us so unkindly.
Inwardly praying that the belief in an afterlife is wholesome - what are we learning here? - what are we gaining here?
Stay positive. All things will pass, as will we to our hoped for better place.
Much appreciated d a. I am always positive.
