Grave Walking.

Goldfinch60

Well they want to change things again,

Change things in the Church.

The Welcome Area is not right,

Apparently,

So somebody said!

It must be changed,

The main door is in the wrong place!

It has only been there a few years,

One hundred and sixteen of them!

But no, it is in the wrong place,

It must be moved,

Moved to the centre.

But the raised bed is in the way!

We will board over that,

And have a ramp.

We can put tables and chairs there,

For people to enjoy their tea and coffee;

But there are peoples ashes

In that raised bed,

It is a resting place for them,

Their final resting place.

Would you therefore walk on it?

Would you walk on someone else’s grave?

If it wasn't such a sad theme, we might say in some places: 'Ya can't come in 'ere; our graveyard is full up!' Doh!

There's always someone who wants to change things - often to the detriment. That's how so many historic buildings have been lost.m

That is so true, although it is not that old, 1903, some people want to frontage to try and attract more people, I am afraid more people are not coming to church nowadays.

Some churches have got it right. The Community Chuch here in Market Harborough has a coffee shop which is in retro style. It's operated by volunteers every day of the week and children are accomodated in the hall where there is plenty of toys for them and thanks to the glass screen they can be watched ny their mums. As a result it absolutely throbbing. There are also tots groups held by volunteers and rooms let out to local groups (my art group is one of them). It is a real joy to visit And I am gratefull to it it beyond words for it was the lady who deals with admin and is a qualified first aider who saved my life just over a year ago when I had a major haemotoma. Having said all that it does have modern premises fit for purpose which isn't the case when it comes to old established churches.

I cant help but see the funny side of this.... what on earth are they hoping to achieve? What is the goal and who will benefit? Is this a church with every pew filled? or is the aim to attract more souls. Surely there are more fundamental issues for the established church.

There is a couple in our church who seems to feel that younger ones, they are only in their fifties, who seem to want to change things, this one they came up with will cost a lot of money which we have not got and it will upset many ‘oldies’ in the Church.
