Protection Perusal

Tune: Binchester

('Happy are they, the that love God')

Psalm 64 parts

********

Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer

I trust you still are there

Preserve my life, protect me still

Help me in your good will

Although I 'pray not all away'

Guide me today, each day

Protect me from harm, body, soul

And spirit, make me whole

What enemies may do or say

Guard me from them, I pray

O come defend me, keep me sure

I your sheep evermore

So to fear you, awesomely true

Reverence you anew

Not fear of enemies terror

For you to my help stir

Others too shall your wise works see

And the righteous shall be

Glad in you, LORD, and trust they shall

In you, your glory tell

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. metre. Sometimes we may, or try to, 'pray away' all the 'bad' things (verse 2). Yet we can pray for protection and guarding. Binchester in County Durham, not to confuse with Winchester in the South (tune name).

I know her well - she speaks a load of rubbish like her brother Cob Berles.
