Richer.

Fay Slimm.

Richer.

No matter what business may pour

into making fortunes

there is always spots of caught

gold atop stillness of water

and silver on sticklebacks splashing

in crystalline shallows as

shy kingfisher on river bank

dips jewelled wings as he passes.

and sapphire as sky-tint changes

when sun colours rising day

with pearls on horizon lacing

       grey clouds in priceless diamanté.

What could be richer I ask.

This is priceless Fay. Thanks for presenting this poem today.

    Ex animo, Alan

    • Fay Slimm.

A great honour you think my few words to be priceless and thank you my friend - - Wealth indeed are the riches of nature than anything humanity can ever achieve.

    • dusk arising

Seeing so many around with the droop of sadness about their personna I feel I am blessed with a richness of positiveness and wit. I hope it will not be taken from me whilst my walk through life decays for i would I think despair.

You are right. The world around us contains many jewels of the natural world. Sadly many eyes do not know the opportunity to see such marvels. Inner city life has no kingfisher splash of splendor nor stickleback fleeting gloss.

Our children and grandchildren may wish for more mundane riches beyond the reaches of money, fresh air to breath and a climate in which to survive may turn out to be their wishes of richness in an era when poetry has not seen the long extinct wildlife we adore today but turn our backs to. Money is buying a future of death and decay for our planet.

Money, the rout of our riches.

(Apologies, this turned into a bit of a rant)

      • Fay Slimm.

No apologies needed D.A. for tis my pleasure to read your own take on the subject and so pleased you were moved to write about what today money is buying.

      • Michael Edwards

You paint a fabulous picture and it's all there for us all to enjoy - at the moment.

        • Fay Slimm.

Many thanks Michael for your read and comment on what is really the richer.......... nature delivers no matter what - at least up til now.

        • Clara

Your words paint a rich picture as ever! There's always such depth to your work, whereas I find my own work to be surface level. I shall keep studying your work!

          • Fay Slimm.

My dear Clara - many the voices on this friendly site and writing so different a view of the subject of what money can buy - thank you indeed and you honour my verse for reading and seeing a depth to my efforts on Richer..

            • Fay Slimm.

A fine set of things to view Fay. They pay me NOT to sing! lol.

              • Fay Slimm.

So good to hear you enjoyed the view of what I see as richer my friend.

                There is only one answer
                Nowt
Could be richer, for those things that you mention
Are priceless and beyond any compare.... Took me back so ya did to days by the river and gazing at clouds etc etc...….. 🙂

                • Fay Slimm.

Yes I agree rivers are rich and to keep watching and gazing at nature's great wealth makes all that money buys naught but nowt. You and I must live in the same dimensions methinks Nev. Thanking you kindly for sharing past happy days.

                • dusk arising

I feel I should re-visit your poem today having ranted earlier for which i apologise.... my frame of mind at the time intruded.

Your final line asks and now i answer. There is nothing finer than these riches of nature.
As before, you show your empathy with our natural world and you draw out a string of words to compliment. I'm envious of the way you paint pictures with the written word.

                  • Fay Slimm.

You are a generous and spiritual poet D.A. and of that there is never a doubt. Thanking you masses for this revisit and again I insist no need to feel bad about having a "rant" - - things are gathering pace to make our generation cash in to results of living for money and what it achieves so I hope that "Richer" presents nature as having more wealth than most folk see before it becomes too late.......warm thanks again .......... Fay

Your writing interpret the quote perfectly.

                    • Fay Slimm.

So glad you saw it that way and a big thank you my friend.

                    • ANGELA & BRIAN

ANGELA HERE - Good Evenng Fay just finished having a coffee with Brian before we watch the Liverpool Chelsea Cup Tie ! Loved the quote ! As you well know Brian & I are very very rich because we have discovered TRUE LOVE in each other and and that is priceless and will se us through the rest of our lives OGETHER - AMEN !
Because GOD *Created life on Earth* I see Beauy - Purpose - Order & Design in all Natural Things. Brian has a large collection of sem-precious gem stones which he uses in his teaching and the College in its safe has a small collection of Precious Gemstones which they use on the Gemmology Course. I like Jewellry but I use MAMAS rather than building up a Collection of my own - We have a House to Furnish ! What intrigues me about Gemstones is their COLOUR and their CUT to enhance the colour. They are STATIC so they can be examined at leisure. The colours of the GEMSTONES are repeated in the Flora & Fauna which are Dynamic which influences the dimension of movement and interction with Sunlight. In the tail of Peacock - the scales of the Rainbow Trout - the plumage of the Kingfisher - the clours of Spring Flowers and the multihued Millions of Global Sunrises & Sunsets every Year everyone a perect dynamic gemstone. God knew He has created a Planet of infinite beauty so he created Man & Woman with an incredible set of sences - Sight - Scent - Sound - Savour & Sense of touch so we could all *Say to Ourselves - What a Wonderful World* AMEN. Your elegant Poem just gives us a glimpse inside Gods Treasure House of infinite Beauty. Each of us has a great responsibilty to Protect & Preserve the only *Living Planet* we are aware of in our Galaxy - AMEN ! Sorry for rambling on but Brian & I are very passionate obout Our Amazing Planet and the negect of Man to care for it. Thanks for caring & sharing.

Blessings & Peace & Joy in beautiful Cornwall !
                      Love ANGELA & BRIAN 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛
