There's a certain fall of shadow
highlights part of his face
which amazes, like gradations
of gloaming's changing rainbow.
Grace like this must have a use
yet I fathom no reason
except for the blissful feeling
at my lover's inestimable beauty.
None could improve on its effect
for 'tis the ultimate gift
yet almost heaven's affliction,
as when it fades I have no breath.
Only Love understands Love
