Ironing Sadness.

Goldfinch60

It was so very strange

And made me so very sad,

All I was doing was the ironing

And I finished by ironing the handkerchiefs,

Nothing odd in that.

But a sadness came over me

When the thought crossed my mind

That none of the hankies

Belonged to my lover,

And my tears started to flow,

As they do now

As I write these words.

These sad occasions will spring out of the woodwork at you many mire times and remind you of your humanity. It's good that they do. Those tears and the very act of crying/sobbing is I think like a discharge of the underlying stress or grief we carry somewhere lodged in our subconscious. Thank goodness you are man enough to allow yourself such release and further to show it here.
Stay well, how are you getting on with your grocery shopping?

    • Goldfinch60

Thank you d a, I am a very emotive man anyway and am not frightened to show it, it is what I am and I wouldn't change it for the world, as you know yourself that there is so much emotion in music and it needs, and in my case is, to be shown.

I am fortunate with the shopping as I go to a butcher to get my meat and a farm shop to get my veg. I have just been down to Morrisons as I do about 7:30 every Saturday and it is heaving with people, I just could not stop laughing at them all, it is crazy how much they are buying - and me I spent a whole £26.69.

      Take care my friend

I have three supermarkets close to me and i have seen so many empty shelves thhat i set out today to 'get some in'. I queued outside lidl at 07.45 and i am pleased to say that in spending just about £13.50 i have filled all the spaces in my foodstore so i'm a happy bunny. I'm like you with displays of emotion. It probably shows in my mps postings.

        A sensitive write Gold.
Do you keep any of her possessions - clothing and /or other things?
Our animal sadness. A piggy departed, as she was poorly. I got another one for company for the remaining piggy.
But yet another piggy lives alone now. He seems OK with it. We have 5 piggies in all.

          Thank you Orchi.

Yes I do keep some of her possessions the most important of them being her Wedding Ring which I keep on the chain around my neck.

Thank you Michael, such a strange effect considering what I was doing.

Very touching piece Andy. Such an impact from a few lines about a mundane task. I try not to think about much when ironing, too busy trying not to burn my fingers.

            • Goldfinch60

Thank you Atea. It’s not too bad as long as you don’t answer the phones.
