My path to Paradise was started so many years ago
As Dufay, Tallis, Byrd and Dowland put notes down
Only to be modernised by Bach and Handel
As they led the way for Mozart to stun the world
Which woke up Beethoven and Tchaikovsky
To produce their wonderful way with notes
The glory of Verdi and Puccini’s words in music
Showing the way for Rachmaninoff and Scriabin
For Mahler, Debussy, Sibelius and Ravel
To move forward to the place that others took
And Barber, Cage and Reich moved forward
To that place where Richter and Adams continue
To pave my way to Paradise.

And I love the music of every composer included here - what an inspired write.
Thank you Michael, much appreciated.

A 'classical' type of write Gold.
But one composer leads to the other place 'down there'. Starts with S? Did Beacham hate his music?
Thank you Orchi.
"Sir Thomas have you ever conducted any Stockhausen?"
"No, but I have trod in some!"
Music to my eyes and to my mind sir...
Neville
Thank you Neville. Music is always there for us.
Andy
Well said, no matter what happens around us, we always have music to make things better!
That is very true Fred, thank you.

Then along came Bird, Dizzy and Presley handing reins to Zawinul, Brecker and Jackson and so on to where ever and whoever. They say our popular music stems from the african work songs, call and response etc but I'm not sure that such looking back is beneficial... if the influence is there it will out regardless.
Stimulating read.
Yes so true d a, as you know my taste in music is very eclectic, the influence for music is so diverse it must be interesting to trace its roots but that is for another life I have more than enough music around just to listen to in this life.
Andy
y, you've put your foot on just about every musical stepping stone I love and you put it beautifully, thanks
Thank you AF, most kind.
