As I drew the sword from the rock
Within my heart I was born anew
'You and the land are one' it said
And this simple truth was all I knew
As I ruled throughout my life
My sword would always be my guide
With every decision that weighed on my soul
My sword would be light as the wind
Or heavy as stone.
As King I ruled with fair and just wisdom
But in love, I became lost within my kingdom
And as the years struggled on by
Those that were closest had left my side
In time I doubted who I was
I forgot the oath I once held close
Until the day of my final fight
And I conquered the evil of my mind
I lay dying in battlefield blood
It was then that I finally understood
Being King was easy to do
But being a man was a different tune
And though I suffered at least I can say
I now know which role I was meant to play

A fine write Crow.
Thanks Orchi. Although I have not given legend any justice.
Excellent writing Crow. Loved the Arthurian context and the message was superb.
Great to see a poet who spreads his talent across many styles of writing and content.
