Tune: Serenity
('Immortal love, for ever full')
Acts 5 v.15-16
*******
Days of the early church, there be
Many signs, wonders, see
And too, Lord, show your healing power
To us this day, this hour
They brought forth the sick into streets
For them it no great feats
For thy expectant God would heal
And act for their good weal* (*well-being)
In the streets, infirm were placed thre
But not on pavement bare
On beds and couches, awaiting
What God's power would bring
For they hoped at least the shadow
Of Peter they would know
Apostle who passed among them
In town, Jerusalem
Not magical, but shadow fall
On them, and heal them all
E'en without a touch in person
The Lord worked, healed each one

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. metre. There may not be healing all the time; or for some it may be partial. But here it was expectant, in an electrifying atmosphere of faith - Peter's shadow would be enough, let alone his touch of 'laying on of hands' One version of the hymn in the clip has 38 verses. I will sing 'em all to ya - torture for ya! lol.
