Tune: Dominus Regit Me
('The King of love my Shepherd is')
**********
A Maundy [Thursday] feel, a town, quiet, bare
Something of you we do share
Lord, of your loneliness, sorrow
That you facing the cross did know
Yet cannot be same cross you bore
That they on Calvary saw
For you did suffer us to save
Your life there once for all you gave
Emotional the hurt and pain
But trust we shall meet again
We must for hopeful short-term bear
That then we see in person, share
A searching of our minds and hearts
Whatever ways, whate'er parts
We are affected, way, shape, form
Continuing on through the storm
We pray help to those poor, needy
And to the vulnerable be
If your love seems dimmed, it still shines
Through darkness with its beams divine
So altar stripped, Good Friday neared
And church of vessels gone, cleared*
But soon comes morn, resurrection
Your salvation to every one
---------
* This happens at the end of the
service on Maundy Thursday.

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.7.8.7. metre. The last line of each verse allows for 8 syllables to fit also. I wrote this soon after seeing the town, and a portable pop-up shop being dismantled. In verse 3, last line, I originally wrote: 'That then we good again may share'. But there is so much good being shared, even now, while we are not meeting in groups.

Orchi,
“Continuing on through the storm”, we’re all vulnerable! It’s a time to reflect, to be humble and to pray in our own way!
Thank you for sharing.
Stay safe and be well!

Thanks Laura.
You’re welcome.
Stay safe and be well!
ANGELA HERE - Thanks Uncle Steve for lifting our Souls in the midst of a Pandemic ! One of my fave hymns and *Full of Celestial Promise* We had so so many plans for Easter - not just a Mega-Wedding but Honeymoon in Sevillia where they dress up like the KKK and the Men carry huge crosses for Penance - Awesome. We plan to go next year - Deo Volentes ! Your Poem reminds us that its Easter next week - seems almost like its been *Put on Hold* like everything else that is sacred ! Lots of Churches are puting Services on Line and the BBC gave added a Sunday AM Service - it was very good.
Blessings to You and Your Isolated Irish Setter !
Love in the Spirit ANGELA & BRIAN 💛💛💛💛💛
Thanks A&B. Yes, a bit early for Maundy time - well, this year anyway. Though some years Easter is the end of March. Snow flurries for you? a bracing time in the garden? - it's BST now, ya know!
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold. You don't mind pottering in the garden in snow flurries? I have gloves on until about end April sometimes. It's the worst part that feels the cold on me - my hands.
