not quite the city that never sleeps
in fact, a little sleepier
full of good booze and good views
only an hour from mountain peaks
and blistering winds
which seeks
to dissuade the recently arrived hoard
from going outside and exploring the outdoors
yet the adventure seekers still ascend;
the parking lots are still full by five am
and a native will dare you
to find a 14er that isn’t crowded
and even though it’s changed
and even though it may seem strange
that so many people flock to this high desert plain
it’s still home for now
and has some decent thai chow
the people are nice and the views still entice
just wish there was a little bit less snow and ice

BRIAN HERE (Angela is my Wife !) Good Afternoon JAKE welcome to MPS ~ it is a proactive site which works by Reading & Commenting on each others Poems. Thanks for your first Poem ~ excellent in Rhyme & Rhythm. Denver is a fine City and its only when you read the writing on the CAPITOL BUILDING STEPS that you realise you are indeed *A Mile High !* (5286 ft) The highest we can get in the UK is 4,200 ft in Ben Nevis in Scotland. I also love Colorado ~ A great STATE to be in ! Love ASPEN in the Fall ~ AWESOME ! Thanks for sharing ~ More Poems Please. Please check our site ~ Thnaks.
Blessings & Peace & Joy
Yours BRIAN & ANGELA ๐งก๐ค๐
Cheers guys! That' still fairly high!
Denver is a fun city when it's got folks in it (empty now of course!)
Would love to visit UK one of these days!
Thank you Jake for the introduction to Denver I am sure that in spite of the 'snow and ice' the people who live there make it a wonderful place.
Welcome to MPS.
Thanks Goldfinch! Yes, great people!
Oohh, I get dizzy going up a ladder, let alone...โฆ. But as a child I lived with parents on 14th floor of a block of flats - top floor.
Totally understand! Sometimes get that fear of the void when in a high place!
Nicely penned my friend....
Neville
