On through the valley, trials, tribulations

Whate'er particular affects each one

All that we know, all we not know, you know

Lord, all things in heaven and earth below

 

For your never-failing omniscience

And all-embracing your omnipotence

Nothing ever outside of your control

Help us through troubles still your praise extol

 

Valley of death, of darkness, vale of tears

A little life we have, it brief appears

We helpless, hopeless, here without your aid

Yet trusting in you we not be afraid

 

Valley of Baca*, weeping, it we may

Turn it to a well, pray your healing day

Upon us dawn, glimmers of hope we see

Light shine through death's dark pall to victory

 

As a vast cloud of incense prayers do rise

To you Lord Almighty above the skies

Yet by your Spirit dwelling in our hearts

Your comfort from us never it departs

 

We small, flesh as grass, glory as flower

Defend us by your grace, each, every hour

Cast us not off, have mercy still, we pray

Our Lord and Saviour, ever with us stay
