grace

dusk arising

Eyes once radiating love
are now rested, closed.
A mask breathing life
into an exhausted body
conceals a distant smile
upon a pallid face.
Isolated and intruded
by modern technology,
cruelly ravaged by
an unknown viral thief.
Frail, forever feminine,
as time finally
slipped away from her.

  • Comment from author about the poem: A terrible scourge loiters awaiting the unsuspecting across our world today harvesting our weakest. Lets just remember them for a few moments. Once upon a time they were children with the same childish joys as we. Once they were young lovers just as we. Who knows the countless untold stories of their lives. They are us, we are they.

So cruel taking the older ones. Robbing families of the dignity of goodbye.
