Brief,

Fay Slimm.

Brief.

The gaze
of late sun falls on dry petaled
memory
and smothers love's way ahead.

Passing
breeze sighs lament on seeing
quiet tears
slide down my cheeks in regret.

Destiny
waves its wistful goodbye to our
brief moment
as crestfallen this red sun sets.

The stars
will remember 'tho as will I that
love's lightning
was brilliant when at its best.

Thank you Andy - - so pleased you enjoyed my few words on Brief.

I mirror the words of Goldfinch. Beautiful words Fay.

Love lost leaves a memory with each sunset. A heartfelt tear, deep longing, a gratitude, and a shrug .... then the walk back into a life without.

      • Fay Slimm.

Thanks D.A. - - You word well the hurt that comes when that walk back into life without a lover has to be done and only memory left with each sunset.

        A lovely write Fay.
Me watchdog, Fido, comes along and ruins any 'excitement'. As for 'ardour', he says 'Certainly not! He's a pest. lol.

      • Alan .S. Jeeves

This is a very fine 'free verse' poem Fay.
        Very, very well done.

        Ex animo, Alan

        • Fay Slimm.

So glad you enjoyed the read Alan - - free verse is not the easiest of styles for me and sometimes too many verses appear - - - had to delete a couple this time but pleased the theme was fairly clear.

The term beautiful does not quite do these three perfectly formed stanzas the credit they deserve...

            • ANGELA & BRIAN

Good Evening Faith - Brian Here - Thanks for a Lovely Love Poem about the Transience of Love ! Angela & I have only been married six weeks so we are alwys stressing the permenance (at least 50 years - DV) of our Relationaship ! Your POEM mentions some of the factors in TRANSIENT LOVE ! Gazing - Memory - Passig - Quiet Tears - Destiny - Brief Moment - The Stars - Loves Lightning _ AWESOME. You know Men are strange creatures ! Once (when I was between Girl Friends) I fell in LOVE with a GIRL in a Bright Green Coat coming down an Escalator (in a Large Store) when I was going up. Iwas mesmerised and as soon as I reached the top I ran down the escalator to try and Find her but I never did & never will (it was 12 years ago !) However all the feelings you mentioned came into play ~ QUE SERA SERA ! However GOD had other Plans for Me - ANGELA ! Over three years ago I saw a VISION across a crowded Room at a Christmas Dance - I flew to her side - and the rest is History !

              Blessings & Peace & Joy
              Love Brian & Angela 💛💛💛

              • myself and me

Brief but rich. From start to end, from morning to night, from sun rise to sun set, love begin, love end and love last.
                Wonderful.
