Tune: St Fulbert
('Ye choirs of new Jerusalem')
********
There work to do, though too take time
In going through life's rhyme
To rest, and ramble as you may
Partake a pleasant day
By water's edge or country lane
Soul be refreshed again
in quietude and peaceful green
And fine wildlife scenes seen
By river-bank graceful heron
Takes off, a flightful one
Spreads wings, and clear-water below
Sun's beams or raindrops show
Enjoying views of creation
And then when journey done
Return in peace, calm and content
And maintain good intent
To walk, not rush, nor pressurise
As if strain for a prize
'Tis not a race, but gentle stroll
Whether long or short all

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. metre. In stanza 3, a pub on a country walk, re-named some months ago, is 'The Heron on the Ford'. I don't go in. I would only add water to the wine/beer! They would chuck me out.

Nice to read your appreciation of the beauty of our world as seen at first hand.
Good one Orchidee.
Thanks dusk. Ahhh, and whiffs of manure from farm fields too. Phew!
Trust you to tread in it. Is fido giving you dirty looks?
Well, I smelt it, wafting from a field of vast expanse. A pleasant breeze blew the pong over!
The only creature that didn't seem to get the meaning of tranquility is the human specie
Thanks Suresh. It will save me rambling on in the waffling sense! lol.
Good one Orchi, walking in a slow manner to appreciated the natural word is so wonderful.
Andy
Thanks Gold. Only thing that spoilt it was a couple of con men in a truck. I saw them 7 years ago even - still conning? On a country road they said 'Remember me, mate; I did your garden? You've not paid me for it yet'. Now I've reported them to the police. Grrr! It's got to stop.
Good for you Orchi, a great piece for a nice Spring day. How've you been? How's KP?
Thanks AP. All was well on my country walk (except the con men - comment above), then return to misery, to KP. I've got a sign by my front door now: 'Abandon hope, all ye who enter here!' And yet I never see her 99% of the time - she's out getting botox, or being in the papers AGAIN!
As long as she's not in the papers with you, right?
