What is in Your Life?

Goldfinch60

A question came to mind,

‘What is in your life?’

I thought and pondered.

The love of my life has gone,

Waiting to meet me

When I go to her,

After my journey in this time

Has ended.

So what do I have now?

I have family

Who I love,

And who love me.

I have friends

Who are there for me

As I am for them.

But for me

Just for me I do have three things.

Music will always come first,

It has been there all my life,

And my life without music

Would be non-existent.

Poetry has been with me,

With me for several years.

The idea of not writing,

Not writing every day is an anathema,

An anathema to me.

And then there is the third,

The one that still surprises me.

I enjoy it so much when I play,

When I play croquet.

So looking back on my life,

My long life,

I am happy with what has passed,

I am also happy with what I have,

My life of music, poems and croquet.

    Singing is in my life - though it's anatha-wotsit to everyone else! lol. Bit of French there?

      Andy,

      A great question youโ€™ve posed in the authorโ€™s comment section.

      What is in MY life?
      Too many things at the moment!
      Some are pleasant...
      some are not;
      some are complicated...
      some are not;
      some are painful...
      some are not;
      but all in all life goes on.

      As my mom would say, โ€œHardships are like lemons; take those lemons
      and make your lemonade;
      let nothing go to waste!โ€
      (A loose translation from her Italian words.)

      A great choice of music to complement your poem! I enjoyed both; the read and the music. Cinema Paradiso is one of my Italian favorites.

      Thank you for sharing.

      Laura

        Admire what your Mom would say, positive in her ways as I tend to be.

        Thank you for your kind words Laura, much appreciated.

          A wonderful entry Andy. I'm thankful to still have Sharon in my life even though I've not seen her in 49 years. I know some don't understand why I hold on to her as I do. Even I have to wonder as to why, but I do I guess because its all I can do.
          Music, poetry and croquet.
          Go for it Andy!

          • Goldfinch60

            It is always important to have things we love and treasure in our lives.

            As the saying goes -
            "Be content with what you have"
            And if I follow as the saying says, then, I have everything, but I don't know if I can put it as poetically as have you.

            • Goldfinch60

              Thank you Suresh, most kind.

              Andy

              Not everything is obvious, is it.. some things, precious as they might otherwise be... need to be looked for and sought after and cherished ... another cracker sir... N

              • Goldfinch60

                Thank you Neville, I have been so fortunate in my life.

                Andy
