Is She a Bad Mother.

Goldfinch60

Is she such a bad mother?

Her two wonderful girls,

Brought up with love and respect.

That love can be seen,

See whenever they’re together.

But the time has come,

The time for them to leave,

To leave home,

To pursue their lives,

Their lives and careers.

Sailing into their futures

Towards their wondrous lives.

Most children go around the country ,

But not these two!

One is going to France,

The other back to China.

Is she such a bad mother

That they need to leave the country,

Leave the country to get away,

Get away from her.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Just a bit of fun, two of my wonderful granddaughters will be working abroad, the elder was in China but was at home when the Corona virus started but is dying to get back there the other ha completed her University degree and left yesterday to work in France. She is not a bad mum and has brought both her girls up with love and care - but I had to write this.

Thanks for the explanation! I started to imagine a mother bird who raised two wandering migratory fledglings, soaring off on new feathers to France and China like arctic terns or cuckoos who travel thousands of miles on their migrations. But guess what, they instinctively come back!

Thank you jarcher, their home is always there for them as is my home for my offspring.

Those offspring who fly the nest invariably come back again after adventure has had its fill - thanks dear Andy for your caring poem of tribute to those left behind - good Mums were ever loving teachers of freedom.

both mine fly off .. because they have to.. and then return, because they have to .. like swallows they are.. they know there is always a place for them here... no doubt the ones you refer to are the same.... I get the feeling their mum taught them well.....

Nature will have it's way and for many of us that involves spreading the wings and flying. If flying is within ones capabilities then one should fly!

Strange as it sounds, at the first opportune moment (generally going off to college) they want to fly as far as possible. In USA, it's always to the opposite coast.
I agree with all other comments, so won't repeat. Though this post sounds tragic, I know it to be humorous.

The fact that they have achieved so much and are ready to forge their own futures is testament to their upbringing - their parents must be so proud.
