The Logic of Fools
Why not pin something on Nelson
Then we can tear his statue down
Maybe then
We can turn on Churchill, or Jesus
Hey, let’s all really go to fucking town
Then maybe when
We think the whole world is looking
And when there aint nothing better to do
Yeah maybe then
We can try and change history
By breaking & de-facing a monument or two

Anti-social to the greatest extent is this kind of destruction Nev and your verse highlights the mental state of those breaking and defacing........
tis bloomin furiating innit.. bless ya my lady Fay....

The destructive actions of a mindless few spoil the message of those who seek to bring attention to their genuine and worthy issues. This great write makes the point so well.
Thanking you kindly sir
Neville
Great write Neville. Your title is perfect. Only an idiot would think that way. But, you can't fix stupid.
Thank you for showing an interest in my latest scribble my friend... much appreciated....
The pleasure was mine Bill. Thank you.
I know where this is coming from of course. Not so long ago there were moves to rename waterloo station, trafalgar square etc because it 'upset' some of our fellow europeans to be reminded how they had been defeated.
So here we are again but not for the same reasons.
Oddthough that we seemed to rejoice when the crowds did the same to statues of saddam hussein and gadaffi.
Excellent provokative writing on current matters.
You just made the point I was trying to make... thank you DA

Nelson is perched about 200 feet up, I believe. We could hire a crane!
If there are hateful monuments, why didn't people think of tearing them down long ago?
It doesn't achieve much though.
I think you have a point Orchidee.. thanks for that π
I suppose they would demolish his column too - Nelson, that is.
We can only ever choose to forget history, though itβll never change. The past may be full of hard times but we use them to remind us of our shortcomings and to no do them again. Great write Neville.
you are absolutely write... write on my friend and thank you for stopping by..

History cannot be changed and breaking down monuments achieves nothing when there are more important issues at stake that can be solved in a more civilised way.
Just a thought though:
"History is written by the winners - what if the losers were right?"
Andy
you make a good point.. thanks mate π
Aha, so the New Testament. Written by the winners or the losers? Or is it not history?
Is the NT true, as far as I am concerned Jesus was there but not as the Son of God he was there as the first Hippie, make love not war.
Andy
Not sure how to respond to you pair up there other than to say thanks for saying hi this mane...
