Absorbing.

Fay Slimm.

Absorbing.

Like a painting the still lake
with its quiet surface reigns
over disillusion, it redefines
reality by an unruffled smile
at my troubles with a depth
of compassion as it reflects
many clues to restore mood
for quiesence a pool renews.

A tranquil pool stirs no scum
from storm's fiercer currents
so maintains subterrane calm
by placidly sinking that harm
      which crudely aims to negate
      liquid beauty of stable nature.

I find guidance by absorbing

silence from a body of water.

Beautiful write Fay. A calm water's surface can be very magnetic to the attention span. Observing the reflections is hypnotic sometimes.

      • Fay Slimm.

You got it nailed A.P. - there is nothing like the allure of a lake or pool.

Still waters run deep innit as our aunt Mabel insisted when she drowned uncle Jack's parrot. E were a reet noisey beggar see and babble away like a ragin torrent.

Nah lass, gimmie the quiet of a glazed lake and a pork pie any day.

I saw a small horse drinking on the opposite side of a river. Not a steep bank, and it soon safely galloped back to the others in the Riding Stables field. But unusual to see.

Thanks dear Orchi for sharing your view of a horse enjoying water - - animals must know when its fresh there is nothing quite like a drink from a stream,

Yesterday was a long day for me.. and although I visited this page several times, I struggled to find the words I wanted to express...

today, having not had the most refreshing of sleeps and waking with a bass drum pounding somewhere in my head.. I just wanna say that despite all that, these words are indeed absorbing and have helped take my mind off of the banging... am back off to bed now... cheers x

                • Fay Slimm.

Your effort makes this comment even more special mon ami...... do hope by the time you read my few words of reply that the drum has played itself out and that your weekend is quietly under way Nev. Sending you wishes on wings of warm comfort for a better today........... x

The silence of water can be so mesmerising and can take you to another place of peace, as do your words Fay.
