Tune: Darwall
('Rejoice, the Lord is King')
Psalm 147 v.1-7
***********
Hallelujah, now praise
The LORD, His name upraise
For it is good to sing
To Him, our God and King
For it is pleasant, and praise be
Comely, lovely in its beauty
The LORD He does build sure
His city evermore
Jerusalem it be
He gathers outcasts, see
He heals the broken in heart, true
Binds up their wounds, sorrows anew
He counts numbers of stars
he sets earth's frames and bars
He calls stars all by name
The LORD, who made the same
Creator of all e'er He be
Each star, planet, and galaxy
Great is our Lord, and He
Too of great power be
His understanding is
Infinite, true is this
His thoughts innumerable, so
Humans cannot Him fully know
He lifts up meek, humble
They trust Him, on Him call
He casts wicked to ground
Their ways shall not abound
Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving
All voices and instruments bring

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.6.6.8.8. metre. I don't mind new or modern songs too, though tricky to fit to the metres. One church admitted they want the old. Notice board said ' Come in and taste the old wine'. What is a drag, is same songs (new or old) say 3 or 4 weeks in a row. That's laziness from the music group/choir surely?

Erm, a bit jazzed up version of an oldie, in the clip!
In several ways i wish i were able to stand and joyfully sing together as you describe. It surely is one of the wholesome things about organised religious sects.
Thanks dusk. I get too caught up on the 'outward' jumping up and down, as I call it. I was only writing to a friend of such a church, that I seem to have left now. Well, I've not been to that one for over 3 years now. At lease they're 'alive'. At some places, you may look in the door and want to say 'Anyone alive in 'ere?!' No - it's the sermon, and we're asleep now! Doh!
I see we have a few morning entries talking of stars. And I thought I heard you singing Orchi. Oh, nevermind. That was my neighbors dog.
Thanks AP. lol.
counting stars sounds a bit like train spotting , only on a bigger scale...
Thanks Neville. Just call me Anorak - a train-spotting one!
Good one orchi.
Thanks Gold.
