Relationship Remedy

Tune: Galilee

('Jesus calls us o'er the tumult')

********

Relationship, not ritual

Unto all who hear Christ's call

Need to be born of the Spirit

So the way through life is lit

For it as a new birth truly

Life to our spirits it be

To know God, Father, Son, Spirit

And abundant life, each whit

Help us, guide us, where stale, dreary

Or stuck in ritual we be

Or in religiosity

Only small progress make, see

Yet bring refreshment, renewal

That we do not dry up, stall

Turn wilderness to water-springs

Fresh praises to you each brings

River of the Spirit outflow

From our lives, so other know

Too of life and your salvation

Gospel unto each nation

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.7.8.7. metre. I have aimed to untangle, if it is a tangle, true Christianity from religion and ritual. It's only small progress if we have too much ritual and religiosity, and may just seem to be messing about, getting nowhere. A lot of ritual was ordered for Old Testament days, but we are in New Testament days now.

The phrase 'born again' or 'born from above' or 'born of the Spirit' need not be mysterious. Obviously it can't mean being born again physically. Jesus explained this to Nicodemus (John Chapter 3).

  • ANGELA & BRIAN

ANGELA HERE ~ Good Tuesday Uncle Steve ! Great contribution to MPS today ! Brian & I have sung the HYMN KARYOKE (Smokey joined in !) and a great Poem for us to recite at our next Open Mike ~ SHEKINAH ! I was raised a strict (SPANISH) CATHOLIC ~ We have more ritual than the Vatican ! The first time I attented Brians Free Evangelcal Service I couldnt believe I was in Church ! No altar or Images - No Robes or Vestments - Extempore Prayers and a Spirit Led Order of Service. They did have an Electronic Organ and a Teen Worship Group and every one was so so Happy (& Clappy !). The Spirit of the Lord sure was there. We had communion but with ordinary LOAF & RIBENA (lots of them are TT Dont tell my PAPA !) and two of the Congregation came out and Blessed the Loaf & Ribena it all seemed so so inclusive and Natural. My Folks came one Sunday (we have some Spanish & S.American Members) and they really enjoyed the Freedom & The Singing (we did one Hymn is Spanish just for them) and the fact that there was no Physical Distinnction between the
Eleders & Deacons and the Congregation. The Young People were very orderly and the *Open Creche* ~ subdued ! In Kaffe und Kucken session afterwards Papa really enjoyed meeting the Spanish Speakers most of whom had been raised Catholics ! I thank GOD that my Parents (and my Former Priest) are very Happy for Me to attend the Free Evangelical Church were Brian is a Deacon and we are Youth Leaders ~ AMEN ~ So now you know !
We are not posting a Normal Poem today ~ BUT have posted a FUSION on Eco-Poetry. We have already had contributions from Dove - DA & Uncle Mike and would love one from You if your Muse Moves !

Blessings & Peace to You & Your Ramblin* Rover
Love in the Spirit ~ Angela - Brian & Smokey Cat !

Thanks A&B. One author ranted a bit, as ALL the trappings had been taken out of Services at a church. It's how they are - including Evangelicals? And - a singing cat!

Relationships? Always add an egg... the pie is always the better for an egg me mam used to say.

You didn't argue with mam, not with all those kitchen utensils near to her hands.
