In Error.

Fay Slimm.

In Error.

I catch somehow
the view
of inside tears in eyes
that peer
sadly
from furrowed brow.

Behind that half-smile
bravely
shown for camera
lens,
the pretence ends
as
all the while
endless
dry red dust
surrounds the sound
of home
falling,
wall by broken wall,
but
smile she must.

Homeless now,
with age-old grit
she stands,
aware
her world has stopped.

Another bomb
- -
in error,
- -
dropped

What a wonderful emotive write Fay. Another for my favourites. It reveals such feelings within me. Thank you.

Great insight into the predicament of one of the lesser known, lesser appreciated, heroes, or victims, of war. A scene we see all too much of in the middle east.

Perceptive writing looking beyond the human facade into the personal loss of so much with now nowhere to go and nothing but rubble to her name.

ooh the picture changed from when i started to write this. it's now more attuned to what we see in the news reports.

My apologies for swapping the image dear dusk - - I thought the change was more fitting - - and yes the victims of war are found when the buildings are ruined and the dead removed - standing in front of a once loved home with nowhere to go deserves more than my few simple words - our hearts cry out for the end of such wars............... thank you so much for your visit and read.

man more and above all other creatures makes mistakes.. you paint a grim picture of reality here my friend..

and I can close my eyes and see a similar image to the one you posted when driving through Syria several years ago....

Those kind of images always remain I should imagine Nev. -- - a sad picture and sadder tale of mistaken fire which could easily have been the one seared into your Syrian memory my friend. Thanks for your heart-wrenching comment.

This world would be a beautiful place if it weren't for people.
Think of how many people had to sign off for that inadvertent bomb to fall where it did. We could blame them all, but mainly we need to take responsibility. We put the warmonger in control, we build the bombs, we fly the planes or launch the rockets. ...Enough, sorry......
A beautiful poem, sad. yet beautiful. I'll keep this one. Thanks.
