Walking round the supermarket
I saw them,
I saw this stack of cardboard boxes.
Nothing unusual in that,
But what was in them was staggering.
In this time of the pandemic
They were selling it,
As in these boxes were bottles of it,
Bottles and bottles of Corona!

Yes, I remember those drinks. Soft drinks, so no need for me to add water! heehee. Ddi they have them in 1066?
They may well have done they have been around for a very long time.
though depicting a literal event of an everyday occurrence,
there is a sense of the incredulity in the voice of the poem - at society's ignorance levels in this historic months of wide spread suffering being endured by the less fortunate,
a reflective and thought provoking write
Thank you LB, glad you sensed what I was saying within my words.

they seem to have made a come back dont they... they are everywhere.. just like their more recent namesake... maybe they just never went away...
unlike the pop delivery guy.. such a shame that fell by the wayside .. more folk have their own transport nowadays tho I expect..... Neville
They certainly have seemed to become more popular, mind you I remember from my childhood that they were always very nice.

Andy I had forgotten the Corona of yesteryear and what a co-incidence it has popped up in cartons - - thanks for the food for thought and message in this write my friend.
Thank you Fay.
I'll have a bottle please - to go with my winkles.
Blimey Michael - winkles - that does take me back sitting on the back step with a pin and a bowl of winkles - I liked them, haven't had them for very many years. Thanks for the memory.
Andy
I used to gather them in Southend (not sure I'd want to do it today with all the polution) and take them back for Mum to prepare and then out came the vinegar and pin....
