Sky Hungry
If I can not be a bird
then I want to be a fixed wing glider .. gliding
…
Hanging on the very edge of infinite circles
like a harrier might ..
…
Although a windhover .. almost surely would
always both hungry and wild ..
…
Looking for lay-bys .. in the sky .. Somewhere where
we might make up new names .. new places and words
…
But if I cannot be a bird
then I want to be a fixed wing glider .. gliding
…
Alone with you .. above the clouds
making love, sky hungry and proud ..

I can associate with this Neville as i have always said that when I come back I want to be a buzzard, just hanging in the sky looking down on the world.
Andy
now that would be an extremely fine thing .. I quite fancy that too .. but would ya not rather be a golden eagle tho ... all you need do is fluff up ya chest feathers a lickle bit and roar .. thanks Andy ๐

Speaks of out admiration for the birds and the desire to fly.... fly free and away from material ties.
You took me to my dream worlds of long ago here Neville and yes, who better than a dream lover to accompany.
I reckon a lotta people feel the same way ...
tis both write up my street and my cuppa tea DA .. thank you very much indeed sir ..
I love this impressive flight of fancy where "sky lay-bys" give hours of aloneness with someone you love - --what a notion eh - that potent finalรฉ will stay long after the read in the mind of this reader.
........................................ whey hey โฆ it seems we got ourselves a win win our Fay ...
thanking you & muchly too ๐ Neville
Another Neville special.
You are far too generous for words Michael, I'm just gonna say a big THANK YOU .... Neville
I was airborne with you on this one.
"hanging on the very edge of infinite circles," a great description of Harrier flight. A p;air of hawks lived in a tree just beyond our old backyard and we would watch them often as they circled. Of course your title says it all "Sky hungry" the desire to fly. It has motivated mankind for eternity. Although would I want to be a bird, or just able to fly like one. Basically it's a form of freedom we desire but cannot have. Loved your poem. - Phil A.
your comment is much appreciated MF27 and I am so grateful to you for saying it .. as you so obviously thought through it .. the poem, that is ... it never ceases to amaze me .. the numbers of folk who share my fantasy about flying ..
