Time, that never ending momentum,
It goes so quickly as age increases,
Where does it go?
Sometimes it seems to slow down
In those moments of unrest,
Or sadness.
But in those moments of joy,
Or happiness,
It just flies by.
Time always goes though,
It seems to drift away
Never to be seen again.
It just flows down the plug hole,
Flows down every time you pull the plug.
So is there a way to stop time,
Stop time from passing.
Why don’t we stop washing
And stay young?

- Comment from author about the poem: Yesterday dusk arising made this comment on my poem 'Bohemian Rhapsody' -"Time goes down the plug hole every time u pull the plug. So stop washing and stay young." I warned him that a poem about this would follow.

Na... doesn't work Andy tried that as a teenager... still got old.
Great piece of thoughtfulness today
Stay safe
Thanks Andrew, age is relentless no matter what we try.

I'm trying getting fat
It smooths out the wrinkles
Would it help if we left the plug in after washing? Empty the bath/sink first of course.
They wish I had gone down the plug hole in 1066.
Stop washing and keep aging away ... ha - - That seems a good notion dear Andy - -- loved the read and more thanks for the great Miles Davis.
Ahhh one of my all time favs 'So what' by Miles davis even though i used to hate the coltrane solo (on a different planet). For me this is the only tempo for 'so what' yet miles always played it at double or quadruple time live. Very odd.
Recently i learned a song to sing/play on my little ukelele which has an interesting first verse on the subject of time.. "Hello friend,.. where you been so long,.. time goes by,... it all seems to drift away,... just like a shadow,.. at the end of the day". An impressive line.
Re: plug holes and washing.... i've saved the shower water and i'll think about washing the car with it (only think about it mind u).... then i was going to water the plants wit it but i'm sure i could get more use out of it before it just disappears...... this staying young is hard work.
The album Kinda Blue is still regarded as the best jazz album ever and I would not disagree with that.
Back in the day I bought a Coltrane album, I cannot remember which one but no matter where I place the needle, yes a record, it always sound the same innocuous rubbish. I gave it to one of my cousins as a xmas present - i got it back the following year. I wish I could remember the name of the album as I would like to hear it again now to see if my progressive acceptance of different music would enjoy it now.
Staying young certainly is hard work, I am happier now in my more relaxed state of living.
Andy
Better still don't start washing in the first place. Although come to think of it I'm not sure where the first place is - could it be the maternity ward?
