Wise Ways To Walk

orchidee

Tune: Binchester

('Happy are they, they that love God')

********

Psalm 1 v.2

Blessed are they who do delight

In the LORD's law, keep sight

Of all His commands, meditate

They day and night, not late

Psalm 1 v.3

They shall be like a tree planted

By the rivers, they led

And guided by the LORD, they shall

In season bring forth well

Psalm 1 v.3

Their leaf shall not wither nor fade

They remain constant, staid

Whatsoever they do concurs

With God's ways and prospers

Psalm 2 v.11-12

Serve Him with fear, godly trembling

To Him your tributes bring

Rejoice before Him, in Him trust

We who are but mere dust

Psalm 3 v.3

You LORD are a shield unto me

And you my glory be

You lift my head up from despair

I know you always there

Psalm 3 v.8

Salvation to the LORD belongs

To Him we sing our songs

Your blessing is sure here upon

Your people, through your Son

Psalm 4 v.1

Hear me, O LORD, I to you call

In you I shall not fall

You have helped, enlarged me, I prayed

[May] Mercy not be delayed

Psalm 4 v.4

Stand in awe, and sin not, commune

With your own heart quite soon

Upon your bed, when daylight ends

Be still, God His peace sends

Psalm verses are some of the Poetic works to have ever been written.
Irrespective of perspectives on their religious content,
some great choices you have highlighted here:
'We who are but mere dust'

Thanks B&A. A bit of an obscure hymn, more used in high church, or Anglo-Catholic church, I believe. Both of which can be a bit old fogey-ish!
Almost any Bible version please, except The Message. It causes Fido to turn to raging fury, when he hears words like 'Bravo!' in it! lol.

... My word Steven .. ya got more psalms than a tropical island ... and now I know it was you .. coz this has got your DNA running right through it ....

Thanks Neville. There's 150 of them Psalms to choose from. With 'selection of verses' poems I may do, the Psalms are grouped together somewhat, as in themes in hymn books. Well, Psalms was the 'hymn-book' of the Jewish Temple of olden days.

The Psalms are great inspiration to so many
                Beautiful hymn Orchidee
