Storm Stilled

Tune: Christchurch

('Now is eternal life')

Mark 4 v.35-41

**********

When passing o'er the sea

The sea of Galilee

A great storm did arise

Did them all there surprise

Disciples panicked, Jesus slept

In back of boat, yet control kept

They came to Him, Him woke

And words to Him they spoke

"Master, do you care not

That we perish, our lot

Upon this wild and restless sea?

Help, save us here, this company"

Then He from sleep arose

And His power He shows

Rebuked the wind, said, "Cease"

And to sea, "Be still, peace"

Silencing angry elements

They obey and His presence sense

For wind did cease, was calm

On sea still, healing balm

Jesus to disciples [said]

"Why fearful, what appals

You, how is it that you have no

Faith? Believe now, and so faith show"

They feared exceedingly

Said, "Who can this man be?

What manner of man He

Who commands e'en wind, sea?"

He Christ the Son of God He be

Now and through all eternity
