It was a long drive,
The road ahead of me
Stretched for miles,
The blackness of the sky above
So very dark,
Not even stars could be seen
As the dark clouds covered
Covered the sky.
Mile after mile went by,
When suddenly I saw it,
A break in the sky ahead,
The lightness of dawn
Was there in front of me
Then it came to me.
I was driving this long road,
And was driving into daylight,

Good job too, cos if you were driving into foglight you'd be heading for a head on collision!
Where ya been then?
Motorway driving when its quiet can be so boring that you could doze off. Plenty of raptors hover over the lit motorways too, did you notice any, I've seen owls over the M5 locally.
I am down in Kent at the moment, staying for the weekend, I came from Kent originally and seeing family and friends - with social distancing of course. Left Evesham at 5.30 yesterday morning, hence driving into daylight.
When it is light I have seen many red kites on above the M40 in Bucks.

Good write Gold.
Thanks Orchi.
Driving into daylight would make a great title .. bugga .. would you credit that .. having read the body of these words Andy sir I kind of got distracted from your actual title for the duration of reading your poem ...
One of them driving into daylight experiences that many of us have had I imagine .... another fine observational poem my friend ...
well its either that, or summat to do with my own age .........

Thank you Neville, these experiences do happen to us all, the title came to me as I was driving so I felt I had to use it to produce some words.
Andy
A wonderful title for all sorts of subjects but the one you chose of recent reality makes an exciting read Andy - wishing you a lovely break with family and friends.
Thank you for your kind words Fay, it has been a great weekend so far, we went to Whitstable yesterday and I saw the sea for the first time for a long while, breathtaking.

An excellent write ✍ Andy.
Life is itself one long road nothing can quite prepare us for the journey we take at times along it especially 2020.
Keep writing ✍ and safe during these challenging times.
FineB
Thank you B, yes life is a long road but we must always look ahead with joy.
Andy
it's always good to see the light in the dark of night,i like to think of it as the angels opening the curtains of heaven to light up our path
Thank you Melissa, that sounds good to me.
