They were everywhere,
Pictures that I could see with my eyes.
The beauty of the sea,
The wonders of the tide,
The boats in the harbour.
So much for me to enthuse about
It was such a pity though
I could not capture these images,
Apart from in my mind,
I forgot to bring my camera!

- Comment from author about the poem: I know I had my 'phone with me but I have been doing proper photography for more years than I care to remember so a 'phone is not a camera.

I know the feeling.
Many moons ago i became a keen amateur and collected a fine array of gadgets for my lovely SLR and became a right pain in the butt fussing at this and that to get the perfect (dream on) shot. Eventually i realised this and cut right back on my gear.
Couple of years ago i borrowed someones canon sureshot type of camera and was amazed at its versatility and quality of results. So i bought a used one for £40 off ebay.
OK so i still have my DSLR several film SLRs and a lovelt mamiya TLR but i know which one travels the most miles with me these days.
Getting the perfect shot? It is quite a dream that is but when I was in Whitstable last Saturday there was a group of huts on the harbour that sold various items, one of these was a photographer and some of her pictures blew me away, speaking to her she said that she was so inspired by Whitstable that most of her photos were around that area, hence my words.

Loved your POEM it reminded me of the time - we went up Table Mountain. We were with our Friends Jack & Helen very very keen Photographers - unusually they had both forgotten their expensive CAMERAS. I allowed them to use mine to capture some Slides as they always gave talks on their Trips to Seniors. The views were awesome !
Blessings & Peace to You & Yours
Love A & B & S mokey Cat ! ! !
There are many views like that, I have many of the Yorkshire Dales when Joyce and I went up there regularly. One particular view though I can still see in my mind and the picture I took of it just could not do it justice.
Andy
Often happens to me - I see a suitable subject I want to paint and no decent camera to record it.
It seems to happen so often doesn't it Michael.
Andy
I relate completely Andy, the only time I guarantee I have a decent camera with me is when I travel, I always try to plan a day or maybe even just an hour in my itinerary to take some pictures
In your mind is a good place to store them!
