In The Last Century.

Goldfinch60

It sounds so long ago,

But most of my life

I lived in that time.

That time when I was young

I grew from a child,

Into a man.

Went from school,

To  work.

I spent many years

Happily married

During that time.

But it always seems

To be a very long time,

A very long time ago

When I say

That it was during that time,

In the last century.

Why, yes, being born in the 20th Century, and now it's the 21st Century.
But look! They should not be suprised if we tell them we (you and I) did that 10 centuries ago! 1066, the 11thC.lol.

    • Goldfinch60

True Orchi, but if we told them how old we really are they would not believe us, but WE know different! 😜😜😜

I was speaking to a friend the other day who lives next door to KP's mother and KP apparently went to see her, the press were there and she got out of her car and got in her wheelchair but when the press had gone apparently she was waking up and down the road quite happily.

Thanks Gold. She'll do anything for publicity, will KP. It's our Halloween Anniversary soon. I'm dreading it. What other day would I have married her?!

That's the time traveller in you sneaking out through the chinks in the armour of disinformation given to you when you were reborn into the 1940's.
Who knows what centuries we have seen nor where in our previous incarnations.
Though some fear the nearest we will get to a different incarnation is a tin of evaporated milk on a supermarket shelf.

The time traveller in me has been to the future and life is full of peace and love but we will not see it in this lifetime.

distance is incomprehensible in its complexity,
          light as time travel -
road signs whizz past in a blink -
memory so palpable it hovers just out of touch or fades lazily: yesterday's lunch morphing with that from a year ago, a decade even, maybe within deja-vu's grip as far back as a century...
good write, I'm enjoying your nostalgia themed write's

Thank you LB, nostalgia brings a great deal of pleasure to me.

I find it frightening. Especially when I look at old photos - it seems like a different lifetime - almost as if I'm looking at someone else.

            • Goldfinch60

It surely does Michael but we have com through it with some wonderful memories.

Good Sabbath Uncle Andy ~ Brian Here ! Thnaks for the BLUE DANUBE ~ it always makes us feel Romantic. We are waltzing round the Lounge with Smokey !
The LAST CENTURY ! I only experienced the last 17 Years & Angela the last 12 so we missed over 80%. So for US it really is HISTORY and a very exciting CENTURY ! Lots of developments in Science & Technology and TWO World Wars et etc. Despite 911 & COVID 19 ~ the first bidecade of the 21st C has been mild in comparison ! However we hope to see the better part of the next 80% and we are sure it will have some surprizes in store ! Please check our latest FUSION *What are Your Christmas Plans ?* and if you wish ~ please add a POEM ~ Thanks !

Blessings & Peace to You & Yours
              Love - Angela - Brian & Smokey 💛💛💛

It seems like such a long time ago to say the last century but how true it is that we lived then and have seen all the different changes in this one too - - some are not to my liking but that is so-called progress as they say Andy - thank you for the lovely music too.

              • Goldfinch60

Thank you Fay, yes we have seen many changes but we are still here and will be for a while yet.

                Andy
