The PC army are as bad as the Health and Safety Army where they insist on putting "May contain nuts" on a jar of peanuts!
Mind you the strangest one I have seen is at the Morrisons Fish Counter where there is a label in front of each type of fish showing which fish it is and the price and there in small print below is "May contain fish" on of these days I am going to insist on some fish without fish in it and see what happens.
Andy
Now that's something to fin'k' about. Cheers Andy.
Erm, yes, they cannot rename it Whitepool!
And following Goldie - Miss Berles been discussing the 'price of fish'? How much is it? 'Quite expensive' is the answer
dusks got it right: Mixedracepool (may contain nuts)
Surely the correct title should be 'pool of mixed race' - may contain fish (and chips) - definitely contains nuts.
Spot on - there's an even better shorty there - lol
wait until the Hispanic regions begin their version of 'cancel culture' self-sanctification, see: at least our vocabulary has dark, tinted, sun-kissed etc
all they got is 'negro'... 'yikes', for the poor librarians
PC in of itself is all good, until its being used as a mouthwash to undo all the wrong in peoples mind's...
How about we just simplify things, like children (before stubborn pride kicked-in): admit our fault's, say our apologies, finding a middle ground to make amends for any and all pain inflicted and then Learn: to not do it again!
maybe then, fellow human beings with darker tints of skin wouldn't have their entire value of worth: be reduced to a walking litmus test of other's racism levels...
(side note, really like the calm you imbue into your water/paint pictures Michael)
I'm personally aware of the racist issues having encountered them first hand being married to a wife from Burma who was met and recalls, on landing in Liverpool back in 1955, with the legendary notices 'No blacks, no Irish, no Dogs'. Although she has suffered from discrimination in the past and is proud of her skin, she has none of the hang-ups that so many suffer and has liitle time for those who go over the top in pursuing their grievances. As she says: 'I have love on my shoulders - not chips!'
The painting is of Laughton being the next village along from mine.
Good Sab bath ~ Uncle Mike - Angela here - Thanks for the Pastiche ! Friends of ours have just bought a *Second Home* in the Costwolds can*t wait to see it & stay. Im Olive Skinned & Black Hair (My Papa being Spanish) - BUT - having been born & raised in England ~ I have a *Middle English Class* accent so I have never experienced any Racial Discrimination. Some of the 100% Spanish Nurses in the Hospital do have Spanish Accents like Manuel from Fawlty Towers which differeniates them ! People are singled out for being DIFFERENT ! For US altering Blackpool or Black Pudding or my Beloved *All Blacks* is a *Bridge too far !* Please check our latest FUSION *What are your Christmas Plans ?* and (if you wish) add a Poem !
Blessings & Peace & Prayers for Joanne
Love Angela - Brian & Smokey 💛💛💛
Jeanne also has a very middle class accent having been taught in an English run convent as had her parents before her which has makes such a difference - in fact her English is better than mine which is occasionaly infused with traces of cockney - she soon picks me up!!
Angela here ~ Thanks Uncle Mike ! Sorry about the JOANNE (Thats my Sister in Law) but God knows who we mean ! Accent & Diction are still very important in Business & Commerce ! I attended a Private Catholic School and we had Elecution Lessons ! I never wear my Flamenco Dress for interviews ~ unless its for Show Business !
Blessings & Peace & Prayers for JEANNE !
Love Angela & Brian & Smokey 💛💛💛
I also went to a private school and had elocution lessons but being raised in London there were a lot of cockney influences and actually I'm quite proud of that. At least I can turn on the accent to suit the circumstances - best of both worlds.
thanks Angela.
